business world. There is more to learn than any school system has the resources to teach. This means making decisions that some skills are more important than others; that some areas of knowledge are more basic than others. Should home economics be considered the equivalent educational value as math? Is athletics as important as English? What is important to all students, whether they intend to go to college or not? Teaching a little of everything leaves the student with a lot of nothing. This is the consequence of the smorgasbord approach that Mr. Eastham rightly criticizes.
