"We have a request from the circuit court judge to renovate the courthouse,” announced supervisor chairman J.R. Latham at Monday's special board meeting, dropping a fiscal bombshell on the county fathers.
(Under the Virginia ('ode, the county board of supervisors is responsible for providing adequate court facilities; the judges themselves determine just what adequate is.)
There was no immediate response to the chairman’s news. "The judge says he'll be glad to meet with a committee as a first step,” Latham added.
"Does anyone know what he has in mind?" asked supervisor Hubert Gilkey.
