James Boldridge
Retired Physician
James Russell Boldridge, M.D., 97, a retired physician of Rixeyville, died on Tuesday, September 13, 1983, at Mountain View Nursing Home at Aroda.
A native of Brown’s Store, Culpeper Countv, he was the son of the late James Barbour Boldridge, M.D., and the late Laura E. Brown Boldridge.
A 1909 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, I)r. Boldridge engaged in the general practice of medicine until he was nearly 90, covering parts of Culpeper, Rappahannock and Fauquier Counties. He had lived and worked at his present location since 1918. In 1959 a testimonial dinner was given in his honor at Amissville on the occasion of his first 50 vears in practice.
Dr. Boldridge was married to the former Miss Annie Hess, a registered nurse, who died in I960. Three of their granddaughters are now registered nurses.
He is survived by four sons, James Russell Boldridge, Jr. of Disputanta, William Franklin Boldridge of Ashland, Edward Barbour Boldridge and John Henry Boldridge, both of Rixeyville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. A.C. Walker. Burial was in Culpeper Masonic Cemetery.
