Water System
Council also continued last month’s discussion concerning storage of maintenance equipment. New water system maintenance supervisor Johnny Kay Pullen had requested a place to store his tools. A room in the town hall has been suggested and contractors will replace the lock for the room when they paint the building, Miller said.
Pullen also pointed out portions of the town’s water supply system where repairs were needed. The areas are on the north end of town where plastic pipes have been installed. “The new plastic pipes are in worse shape than the old galvanized ones,” Miller said. He said he didn’t know whether they were installed properly, and he asked for an okay to find out how much it would cost to repair them.
“Since we don’t have enough money to replace all the small lines, we may have to do them piecemeal,” Miller said. “When any line breaks, it’s a problem for the whole town.”
Council approved proceeding with estimates for the repairs. The pipes are in the Calvert-Wheeler-Main Street area.

In other business, council voted to accept the Potomac Edison bid to continue serving town electric customers upon review of the contract by town attorney Douglas Baumgardner. Potomac Edison holds the current franchise and would
