Keesey, who is 77 years old, explained that he had been supplying imported goods to stores in Northern Virginia and West Virginia and now he would like to slow down on his travels and conduct a small home business. Keesey says he expects patrons to come from as far as D.C. to shop with him, but that there wouldn’t be continuous traffic like at a grocery store. He said he has five parking spaces at his property, but that he expected most of his clients would park elsewhere in town and then walk.
Several citizens in the audience objected not only to the lack of parking space along (Jay Street, but also to possible consequences to the historic district as a result of allowing the conversion of a home to a business.
Keesey’s application stated that the building would still be mainly a home and would have no structural additions. Miller asked him to submit a site plan showing exactly what he intends to do with the building so that council may review it
