Maintaining that parents and teachers merit a greater voice in school board decisions, John Ralph asked how that could be achieved.
“I couldn’t agree with you more,” answered Diane Wood, saying she would support election of school board members.
Latham said he has always encouraged parents and teachers to form strong PTA and other advocacy groups.
“The key to the schools is the school board,” maintained Zindel. Noting that Jackson District has a vacancy on that board coming up soon, he reported that he has already spoken with members of the high school booster club and the Rappahannock Citizens for Quality Education. “I would also talk to teachers and interview some choices (for the board) of my own. Then I would make my decision (on the appointment).”
