sheriffs department was called to break up a fight at the Flatwood Inn involving James and Marvin Renzie. The caller also told the sheriff that one man with Marvin Renzie had a high powered rifle aimed at James. The caller was told that the sheriffs department was busy working on a breaking and entering case. The next night at the Pine Knot Inn, James Gatewood was murdered in cold blood.
