W. Clifford Latham and Gordon Thornhill were the Rappahannock representatives present at last Thursday’s annual awards night banquet at Graves Mountain Lodge for the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District.
Latham presented Rappahannock’s conservation award to Irving Kenyon for the Recreational Facilities Authority. Latham commended the volunteer citizens group responsible for creating and operating the recreational facility. In his presentation speech, Latham described the park as a place for tennis, basketball, football, and with picnic grounds and a fitness trail. The facility also sponsors a six kilometer footrace, The Fodderstack Classic, each April.
Farmers were recognized in the other counties in the district for their soil and water conserving agricultural methods. They were Rayard and Peyton Young from Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winslow from Green County, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Aylor and Mr. and
