The music sort of brought back thoughts of the Allied and Axis powers, FDR’s fireside chats, and Ike’s invasion at Normandy. Finally, Richard’s dinner partners had to say, “Let’s forget about the war. Let’s dance.”
Nancy will be doing plenty of dancing this time tomorrow. That’s when Bernice Pearson comes from Fauquier County to direct the Boosters’ “Friendship Follies”. She will show the recruits some fancy footwork, then they’ll have all day Saturday to perfect it before the big show.
Now, Frank Donald says he has to go to the Ruritan convention in Winchester Saturday and won’t be able to make the Follies. But that’s the only excuse we’ll accept. The rest of you be at the elementary school Saturday by eight o’clock with your $3 ready. And that’s an order. We’ll keep hounding you ’til you do it ’cuz Aunt Michele has long believed that “Persistence pays off."
