Helen and Donald Fridenstine recently re* turned from a week in San Francisco. They stayed with Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Allen. He’s a professor of homiletics — that’s a new word to us — at Golden Gate Theological Seminary. Now, homiletics, according to Mr. Webster, is “the art of preaching.” And Dr. Allen was taking part in a series of speeches on sermons at the seminary that the Fridenstines went to hear. They also went into wine country and spent a day at Nappa Valley.
Our Castleton correspondent from Amissville had Sunday dinner with the Washington correspondent in Old Hollow and they compared iiotes on how to correspond correctly.
Then they called Mary Tauss. As you know, she was recently appointed treasurer for the Rappahannock library. She keeps the money well invested and says it’s nice to have something to do to keep in touch with the community and to get to Washington on Wednesdays. (She took over after Margaret Baumgardner resigned.)
