And now it’s time to choose.
Rappahannock residents can be proud of their response to Governor Charles Robb’s appeal for more registered voters. The percent of those eligible who are now registered in the county has jumped from below 60 percent to 71 percent. During the same period, registration statewide increased to only 60 percent.
But the registration record won’t be a statistic that people here can point to with pride if they don’t see the democratic process through to its conclusion and cast their ballots on November 8. Voting is a privilege, a right, a freedom. It is also a responsibility.
