They will also deal with the victim and their loved ones. He/she will often be required to inform the family of a sudden death and will be the comforter and resource provider in this very intense emotional crisis. He/she will also be a role model for impressionistic children and teenagers.
The law enforcement officer will work closely with the fire and rescue service. The county now has a medical intensive care unit and a shock trauma unit, this being a step above the basic life support that a regular ambulance provides.
The law enforcement officer on the scene, especially at an auto accident, needs to know what type units are needed and the time frame involved in getting the right help in the right time to save a life.
I believe that while the law enforcement officer idealistically does not “judge the law,” this is an overly simplistic response to the issue of the way the police officer does his job.
