According to the report, the Stryker property off Route 637 was sold before studies could be completed. Red Oak Mountain property on Route 618 and Waterfall Hollow tract on Route 622 near Chester Gap were rejected because of steep grade and rocky topography.
The Carrigan property on Route 522 south of Woodville near Blackwater Creek was eliminated because it was part of a tract evaluated - and rejected - as a landfill in 1976. Butler Mountain tract near Woodville, served by a right-of-way from Route 522, was dropped because of topography and inaccessibility, and the Willis Farm near Slate Mills was deemed unsuitable because of topography and proximity to the village.
Of the eight which were evaluated, only the Stover property and the Saltonstall tract, 105 acres off Route 622, were rated “recommended as a possible site.” (Soil tests later found the Saltonstall tract unsuitable.)
