To complement the expertise of the medical staff and the capabilities of our hospital staff and equipment, a new surgical suite is planned to be built where the emergency department and its loading dock are now. Central in the hospital, this location is well situated for both inpatient and outpatient surgery. The larger operating rooms and efficient layout of the new surgical suite will accomodate our increased volume of surgery and large sized equipment.
Privacy and convenience for our patients are two other important ? considerations in the design of this unit. When the project is completed, patients for same day surgery will arrive at the nearby Ambulatory Services entrance on the west side of the building and travel the short distance to the surgical suite where they will remain for their entire stay. The suite is designed so that the paths of inpatients and outpatients do not cross.
It is a credit to the vision of the founders of Culpeper Memorial Hospital that our original surgery has been so serviceable, and the new suite is being planned with great care so it can provide years of specialized service.
