“We’ve got a runaway tax rate,” noted Supervisor Newbill Miller on Monday. "The way things are going, we’ll pay twice the rate in 1988 that we did in 1986.”
After the work session with the School Board, the supervisors will hold a public hearing on the proposed school budget on Wednesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. in the courthouse. Adoption of the school budget is set for the regular meeting on Monday, May 4. Then the supervisors will meet with accountant Wally Cox for another work session. The public hearing on the county budget is scheduled for June 1; adoption and establishment of tax rates for June 22.
