Many families have told us that by having modern emergency care in Culpeper, the life of a loved one was saved. An essential community service of CMH, the ever-vigilant Emergency Department sees 12,000 patients a year. To handle this heavy volume more efficiently, more smoothly, and more privately, the Emergency Department will move to quarters on the west side of the hospital.
The original entrance of the hospital will be reopened as the emergency and outpatient entrance. This location is ideal for this purpose with existing roads and parking lot.
Patients and families will find patient care improved by an efficient layout that permits observation of separate trauma and cardiac rooms from the nursing station, more and larger treatment rooms, and increased security. The traffic pattern through the department gives all patients more privacy.
Over the years, the department has kept in step with the latest in life-saving equipment and procedures, including telemetry, cardiac monitoring and communications from the rescue squad on the scene of an accident, and helicopter transport to large trauma centers for muti-trauma victims.
With five full-time emergency physicians and a skilled nursing staff, the emergency department is ready 24 hours a day to receive victims of accidents and suddden illnesses of all kinds. The high quality of care is enhanced further by the entire hospital medical staff and full-service laboratory and x-ray services.
