First Sgt. G. Howard Gregory of the Warrenton office has been appointed as the Virginia State Police representative to the International Association of Chiefs of Police, headquartered in Gaithersburg, Md.

Sgt. Gregory said the appointment will involve work with other police agencies in an exchange of information and ideas to improve law enforcement efficiency. “It Mill be a challenge,” he said of the year-long assignment.

He will be working in cooperation with the IACP and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, through a grant funded by the federal Department of Transportation. His time will be divided between IACP headquarters, NHTSA headquarters in Washington, D.C., and various locations around the country, Sgt. Gregory said.

This assignment marks the first time that the Virginia State Police has participated in the IACP/NHTSA/DOT program. Following the completion of his assignment, Sgt. Gregory will return to his duties at the Warrenton office. .......

Sgt. M.D. Dowdy will continue his a^eignifteht as supervisor to the Warrenton office.

Becoming coming to Warrenton in December of 1984 to replace Sgt. M. Gr. Millner, Sgt. Gregory was stationed in Danville, where he had been since 1976.
