Hunter safety class
A hunter safety course will be held at the Washington fire hall on Saturday, Nov. 10, beginning at 9 a.m. Sponsored by the Virginia Game Commission, this course is required for all first-time hunters and all hunters under the age of 16. Fall leaf watch
Although the peak of leaf color was predicted for last weekend, there is still a lot of green on the hillsides, especially at lower elevations. Some leaves may have fallen during the winds and rain of the past several weeks, but the coming week to 10 days should still bring brilliant displays of color -- particularly if the weather turns cold.
