Though there was some erosion damage from the high water, Mr. Marshall said it much less severe than the damage from the earlier storm, which had stripped several roads down to the bedrock. “This was not near as bad ... we didn’t have the torrential downpour in the short period of time.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Marshall predicted that the crews would have caught up to where they were before the second storm by Wednesday afternoon. “Then we’ll go on from there.”
Mr. Wingfield said he has recorded a total of 12.83 inches of rain so far this month (as of Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 23), “nearly a half-inch a day!”
But, always the optimist, Mr. Wingfield was still able to find a silver lining in all the clouds. “Look on the bright side. If this had been snow we would have had nearly 130 inches so far this month!”
