It is hard for those who grew up in our television age to remember the day when visual images, other than movies and newsreels, were nonexistent; harder to think of a day not connected by satellites, fax machines, lavish Hollywood sets and beautiful faces.
It’s hard but try to remember when the president was just a voice booming into your living room speaking of fearing “fear itself’ and bringing horrible news of that day in 1941 “that will live in infamy.”
On-The-Air begins in 1990 with Elizabeth Remington, played by Washington’s Edith Tennent, falling asleep reading a love letter, her dreams taking her to 1927 and days long-past in the radio station, where she meets her true love, finds her first voice on-the-air, marries another man, suffers personal losses to a world at j war and rediscovers her youth in her grandchildren.
