A two-car accident last Saturday afternoon left five people injured and both drivers charged with moving violations.
According to Virginia State Police Trooper R.E. Keen, who investigated the accident, John Joseph Cain, 32, of Berryville, was travelling Route 729 approximately 1/4 mile south of the intersection with U.S. 522 near Flint Hill.
Mr. Cain, who was driving a 1984 Oldsmobile station wagon, rounded a sharp curve and crossed the center of the roadway, running head-on into a 1977 Lincoln Continental driven by Philip Lewis Webster, 41, of Rankin, Pennsylvania.
Both drivers, along with three passengers in Mr. Webster’s car, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of assorted injuries. All of those involved, except one passenger in the Webster vehicle who suffered a head injury, were wearing seat belts, Trooper Keen said.
