During this time he served, as did his father before him, in the Virginia General Assembly, from Culpeper. After 20 years in the General Assembly he was elected to Congress in 1984, has been re-elected to each succeeding Congress. His congressional record in support of private enterprise, limited government and sound fiscal conservative policy is one of the best in all of Congress, with a rating of 99 percent.
During much of this current campaign Rep. Slaughter has done what he was elected to do and is paid to do, that is, stay in Washington at this crucial time to give us his active sound representation. He has not left his job, for instance, to meet with his opponent, who is an attractive young man, Rev. Smith. The Reverend, to my knowledge, does not have any of the training, experience and qualifications as has Slaughter.
For the benefit of our country and state, the Seventh District should send Slaughter back to Congress and let the Reverend continue his splendid service as a minister.
