Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a dance on Oct. 27 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The band “Tarragon” will perform. Band member Eddie Huff is known to many in the area. Cost is $15 a couple, $8 single. Proper dress and ID required. For more details call Sheila at 937-4357.
If you recall with fondness the old radio shows of yesteryear, don’t miss the Rappahannock Players/RAAC’s production “On the Air” playing at the Gay Street Theater in Washington beginning at 8 p.m. on Oct. 26 and 27. The play covers the period 1927 through 1949. Many locals are performing in the play. Proceeds will benefit the theater itself. Tickets are $7 per person. For more details call 675-3073 or 675-3193.
The United Methodist Women’s Bazaar will be held from 9 to 3:30 on Saturday, Nov. 10. Silent bids for the “Cathedral” design quilt by the church women and the “Washington Square” design by Irma Lawson are being accepted. Over the weekend several locals, including the W.C. Smiths, James Mills and Mike Bums families attended a dinner to honor Mike Schloe who left Tuesday for his next duty station in Alaska.
