In the interest of community service and in events planning, the members of the Library Program Committee determined that the first Friday of each month would be designated as “ours.” Friday at 8 p.m. was chosen to enable commuters and weekenders to join us. The first Friday was set because it was alliterative and might stick in people’s minds.
But by the time we were into our third session, there was a conflict. Peter Kater and Carlos Nakai are scheduled at the Theatre. Believing, erroneously, that this was to be a benefit, we determined by consensus to be “Free Spirits” and defer our piece of for one week to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.
These programs focus on aspects of Rappahannock history, especially those unknown to newcomers to the area. The first pertained to the county and the Civil War. The second
