Harvest celebration
A harvest celebration will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Williams Orchard, Route 729 (Ben Venue Road), Flint Hill. There will be an apple pie contest (bring you own pies), pumpkin carving contest, a demonstration on how apple butter and apple cider are made, crafts and more. Mrs. Catherine Riley will display her quilts. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 27.
Benefit bake sale
Girl Scout Troop 547 will hold a bake sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 26 in front of the Washington Post Office. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of uniforms.
Carollers needed
The Town’s Colonial Christmas celebration is in need of carollers for Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8. Would be carollers should call Ellen Manson at 675-1349 for Saturday and Beverly Atkins at 6753513 or 675-3843 for Sunday. Beverly and Ellen will coordinate the carollers and assist with the colonial costumes.
Renovations underway
Playground renovations have begun at the Rappahannock Park under the auspices of the Park and Recreation Authority, the Rappahannock Woman’s Club and the Mothering Cooperative. The Mothering Cooperative has scheduled work days for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 2 and 3 to construct Phase I of the playground addition. Beginning at 9 a.m. work crews will be assigned to various tasks throughout the day. A pot-luck picnic will be provided for all who attend. Those interested in helping by providing food, tools or muscle can call Bob Lucking at 937-3110 or Jean Faulk-Morgan at 675-1281.
Flexercise classes
An eight-week series of flexercise classes will begin Monday, Oct. 28. Classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. at Rappahannock Elementary. Class fee is $45 for twice a week. Beginners are welcome. Call Rose Ann Sharp at 675-3887, evenings for more information.
Craft festival
St. Luke’s Lutheran School in Culpeper will sponsor a craft festival from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 and from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. For more information or to reserve a table call Peggy Brown at 703-825-3091, after 4 p.m.
Business Council to meet
The Sperryville Business Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 at The Church Mouse. Plans for the upcoming Blue Ridge Christmas will be discussed. All members are urged to attend. If you cannot attend and have an idea or event at your business contact Barbara Burke at 987-8058, evenings.
