County Administrator John McCarthy unveiled preliminary plans fbr the general commercial zone tdong U.S. 211-522 between Wolf Mountain Traders and the Shade Road at last Wednesday’s Planning Commission meeting.
The plans were developed by 'Land and Community Associates of Charlottesville at a cost of $9,500. A ^committee worked with the professional firm. Supervisors Charles K. “Bete” Estes and Mike Massie, Planning Commission members Sharon Pierce and John Clark Jr., citizens Martin Woodward and Douglas Baumgardner and Mr. McCarthy §erve on a committee to develop the plan. n Mr. McCarthy explained that one of the major goals of the plan is to allow more commercial development m the area while minimizing road cuts into U.S. 211-522. The area "Would be considerably deeper than the current boundaries of the commercial zone and would be served by -an interior road system. He noted that the four-laning of U.S. 211-522 in that area would take much of the 'land which was in the commercial «one on the south side of the road.
