Registrar of Voters Nancy Leake reminds Rappahannock County residents that the deadline for residents planning to vote by absentee ballot is Saturday, Nov. 2. Mrs. Leake’s office will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 2.
Her office in the Rappahannock Courthouse is also open regular business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m., Monday-Friday.
Mrs. Leake said as of Sept. 30 there were 3,325 registered voters in the county, up from 3,195 at the same time last year. Ms. Leake said the new total doesn't include about 30 people who have registered in the past month.
For Rappahannock voters, the ballot includes 7th District candidates Kay Slaughter, D; George Allen, R; and John Torrice Jr., I. A second Independent candidate, Fredericksburg computer sales businessman Donald L. MacLeay Jr., is waging a write-in campaign but will not appear on the ballot.
