Allen has

To the Editor:
In political campaigns, many opinions are rendered that have little basis because of the lack of personal knowledge of a particular candidate.
I have known George Allen for many years. I served with him in the House of Delegates for four years and with him on the Courts of Justice Committee. I found that our conservative philosophies coincided.
George Allen prepared himself well on bills before they came on for consideration. He was serious about his responsibilities to his constituents and the Commonwealth. During the session, he devoted his entire energies to his duties. On one occasion, I asked him why he would not partake of a “highball” or glass of wine while in Richmond. He responded, “I never consume alcohol during the session. I need all of my energy and strength to meet the responsibilities of my office.”
I know George Allen. I know his political philosophy, his dedication to duty, his honesty and integrity. I have observed the excellent manner in which he espoused his positions on the floor of the House and in committee and his keen grasp of issues presented.
It is unfortunate that those who have little or no knowledge of George Allen would so freely make unfounded disparaging remarks about him.
I request your support for George Allen for Congress.
