EarthWalk, a non-profit organization designed to preserve Native American culture and foster environmental awareness, has several workshops and classes open to the public in the coming months.

Pre-registration in required for many of their programs, and fees range from $150 for a weekend camping outing to free. Call 703-349-9025 to register or for prices and requirements.

• “Coyote Speaks”: In Native American teaching stories, the coyote is both teacher and trickster. These stories show us what happens when we let our emotions dominate us. (1 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20; $25.)

• “Medicine Shield Workshop”: Spend the weekend of Oct. 26-27 discovering your relationship to the natural world, identifying your pathway and making your own medicine shield. ($150.)

• “Dreaming and the Inner You”: In learning how to understand the dream-map, you can make your dreams work for you. Well known local artist Tanya Richey guides campers in an innovative method to create their own dream-maps. All meals and materials provided. (Nov. 2-3, $150.) .

• “Quilt as You Go”: Piece and quilt the log cabin design in one easy step. Bring scissors and scrap fabrics in light and dark colors. All other materials provided. (Three-week class, starts 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Nov. 6. Children over 12 half-price.)

• “Sticks and Stones”: Kids ages 6-11 learn to recycle items found in the home or backyard into toys, games and crafts. (Four-week session starts 10 a.m.-ll:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. $25.)

• “Jump into Nature”: Explore nature’s secrets through the use of sensory awareness.
