He said the planners couldn’t consider the site without someone from the Postal Service present to say why the site was chosen.
Jackson District representative David Fannon made the motion to recommend that the BZA deny the application.
“I wish the post office would get the message that we want them to find a site within the boundaries of Early’s Carpet and Route 630,” he said.
Ms. Green noted that the post office had not gone out looking for sites. Instead they had only responded to offers of sites from landowners.
“Maybe the Postal Service will reconsider sites more expensive than they like,” Mr. McCarthy suggested.
“They have the option to move the post office into Culpeper if they feel Rappahannock is not agree-, able,” Ms. Green said.
The planners recommended approval for Potomac Edison to upgrade its Flint Hill power substation and for Bedford Pearson to add a family apartment to a garage to house his wife’s parents.
