Performing artists throughout the community have joined together to offer a truly special Christmas gift to Rappahannock County: They will present “The Shepherd’s Play,” adapted from a 14th Century German script that tells the story of the Nativity from the Gospel of Luke, three perfor.«* mances over two day* “Dee. 7 and Dec. 8.
William Carrigan of Washington has generously pledged $2,500 toward the production costs, and 4 he expressed hope that others in the community will join with him to fund “The Shepherd's Play” so that it can be offered annually without charge for tickets.
Julie Portman of Ki Theatre, serving as both producer and director of the play, said, “If we can raise another $1,500 to $2,000 we will cover the one-time costs of special props and costumes and have enough left over to provide seed money for next year.”
If the full amount is not raised, she said, the remainder will have to be made up through ticket sales. $.
