WHAT: Respite care is the provision of short-term care of children or adults with disabilities so that their family can meet emergency needs, fulfil vacation plans, or just take a break. Parents can 'step ouT knowing that their bved one will be with a trained and caring provider. WHO: United Cerebral Palsy of Washington & Northern Virgina (UCP) is a nonprofit organization. Our services are targeted towards the multiple needs of persons with cerebral palsy and other disabilities and their families. Individuals interested in providing services receive training through the program. WHERE: UCP serves the City of Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, and Loudoun Counties. Respite care may be provided in the faml/s home, or the home of the respite caraprovider. WHEN: Anytime . . . weekends, evenings and overnights are available. Services can be provided for a couple of hours or ip to 72 hours. PRICE: Providers can earn from $6.00 to $8.00 per hour. Families pay only half the fee. UCP subsidizes the other half of the payment.
