Three Sperryville residents were charged with possession of marijuana Oct. 4 after their car was stopped at a traffic checking detail on U.S. 211 at Old Hollow Grocery.
Sheriff John Henry Woodward said Lt. Ray Jackson and Deputy Connie Compton investigated a 1979 Pontiac Trans-Am that came through the checkpoint about 12:30 a.m. after they noticed it was improperly registered. One of the deputies, Woodward said, reported that they saw marijuana in plain view on the back seat.
A further search of the car, Woodward said, revealed three ounces of suspected marijuana. Carolyn Boggs, 21, James Matthew Boggs, 21, and Brandon Hudsonpillar, 19, were charged with possession of marijuana, the sheriff reported.
Virginia State Trooper S.M. Knick charged a Page County man with possession of marijuana after he stopped a 1984 Ford Bronco for an equipment violation Sept. 30.
Knick reported that when he approached the truck, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana. A search of the truck, Knick said, revealed suspected marijuana, and Ricky Allen Houaden, 21, of Luray, was charged with possession of marijuana.
