Collectively, we got •what we voted for when, in 1980, we [naively voted for the false promise of •tax reduction, a balanced budget, ;debt reduction and the biggest mili.tary we have ever had.
Many competent military observers think, our defense expenditures were many times what we actually needed in any standoff with the Soviet Union. Remember, it was President Eisenhower who warned the nation of the power of the military complex.
