Of those taxes the largest per{ centage comes from real estate taxes. Again Rappahannock is relatively high at $375 per person, behind Fauquier at $512, but ahead of Culpeper at $318, Madison at $199, Page at $119, and Warren at $153.
On the other hand personal property taxes are not as high relatively. In Rappahannock they come to $92 per person, behind Culpeper, Fauquier and Warren counties but ahead of Page and Madison. Sales taxes at $26 per person are lower in Rappahannock County than any of the surrounding counties, but utility taxes at $33 per person are higher than surrounding counties.
The rest of the county’s revenue comes from the state and federal governments. Rappahannock receives relatively little from the state 'at $423 per person. Fauquier receives even less at $370, but Culpeper receives $480, Madison $501, •Page $529 and Warren $471. None of these counties get very much from the federal government, but Rappahannock does relatively well at $86 per person. Warren County receives $87, Culpeper $68, Madison $67, Madison $70 and Page $69.
When it comes to spending, Rappahannock spends less per person on education than any of the surrounding counties except Warren. Rappahannock spends $672 per person.
