Soldiers of ancient Rome trained f6r battle by practicing gymnastics oW horseback. Today, vaulting is a favorite sport for European youth, and this unique athletic activity is riding to new heights in the United States as the American Vaulting Asgociation, now more than 60 chapters strong, adds new members and dubs to its scores of sanctioned competitions.
.On Oct. 17, the sport comes to Rappahannock County as Mountain 9prings Stables plays host to a demonstration and clinci by the Topaz Vaulters, a 4-H Club from Chantilly.
