where they were publishers of the Methow Valley News, and operated a print shop, until Mr. Watkins’ death in 1961.
Mrs. Watkins returned to Wenatchee where she worked as a proofreader at the Wenatchee World newspaper from 1962 until her retirement in 1977. After her retirement she moved to Spokane.
Mrs. Watkins was a 60 year member of Calvary Bible Church, a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association and the Astal Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, all in Wenatchee. In Spokane, she was a member of the Poetry Scribes, and the Composers, Authors, and Artists Association.
Among her many other accomplishments, she was authoress of several books, which included “The Time of My Life” and “The Haze of the Blue Ridge.”
She visited her father’s native Virginia three times, once when she was a small child too young to remember, once in 1967, and again at age 88 in September 1985, spending the whole month with cousins. She returned to Washington in November and had to undergo by-pass surgery.
She is survived by three daughters, Yvonne Stephenson of Wenatchee, Dinah Widmer and Linda Watkins, both of Spokane; two sons,
