Hubert Gilkey, chairman of the board asked if it would be possible to have the bear hunting season changed so bear can be shot when the deer season starts instead of a week later.
Mr. Bankston said the supervisors could write to the game commission and request such a change. This is the second year of the current regulations, he said. The rules for the next two years will be decided this coming spring. It will not be possible to change the rules for this hunting season, he explained.
Piedmont District representative Charles K. “Pete” Estes asked Mr. Bankston if he would favor such a change, but Mr. Bankston said he would not answer with his personal views.
