Fete dee Vendanges - The Festival of the Harvest! This ancient occasion for merriment is as - indispensable to the season in ■France today as it was when our I grandfathers came in from the fields Jwith mud on their boots and the final "basket of grapes on their arms.

Prince Michel and its sister vineyard Rapidan River will jointly celebrate the bringing-in of the 1992 crop with true French passion from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 on the grounds of Prince Michel, located in Leon, 10 miles south of Culpeper on Route 29.

Prince Michel’s ties to France are fast and true. French wine making methods and traditions are as integral a part of the Vineyard’s philosophy as if its doors opened in the greenery of Bordeaux itself. A harvest without a Fete would be a sort of moral breach of contract.

The “French street fair” theme if this year’s celebration is in keeping with the traditional mood of the occasion. This is a family-style celebration when worries are filed under “yesterday” because today’s schedule calls for life’s simple joys. The expanses of Prince Michel will be wandered by an impromptu mime, a strolling accordionist and an array of Can-Can dancers in full regalia.
