In the center of the village of Flint Hill is the home of Jennifer and Dwight Matthews. The building initially was one-story log structure dating to the 1750’s. 'Hie original lower level wasi a stone-walled inground room with chestnut beams and a large cooking fireplace.
Beams in the two pantries remained “in the rough,” ie, the bark was not stripped. The upper living area was also constructed of chestnut logs. Prior to 1800, a third story was added probably as a sleeping loft. In 1847 a three-story addition
