“Bush and Wolf are like stewards on the deck of the Titanic,” Mr. Vickery continued. “They say, Would like a chair? Can I bring you a blanket? Do you want a free lunch?’ We need a new captain and a new crew. Bill Clinton is going to be that captain, and I’m going to be part of that crew.”

Marie Ritter, a Fauquier County resident, said she would be having a fundraiser for Mr. Vickery Oct. 18. She read from a newsletter sent out to investors and stockholders by the investment firm Morgan Stanley.

It read in part, “Clinton should be able to get a lot done, and we are ready for a change. Legislation should zip through Congress...By mid year of a new Clinton administration, the U.S. economy will be leading the world out of recession... Clinton can get things moving where the Republicans cannot.”

County Democratic Party chairman Kent Reeve asked county Democrats to “help get the word out.”
