The sample acorn fixture was provided by Hadco, a large manufacturer of decorative lighting. Trimble House has supplied to the town a modern example of the radial arm fixture and it is attached to a pole on Main Street between the book store and the Health Department. Both fixtures use a modern, long life, high pressure sodium bulb rather ‘than a conventional incandescent bulb.
“The acorn fixture is one of our best sellers,” Mr. Smulian said. The firm is supplying the fixture to East Hampton on Long Island, New York, which is a major tourist center, he said. “They are trying to get away from the cobra heads by going to an acorn on their sidewalks. But the main street is six lanes wide.”
“The radial arm fixture I think fits with the town (of Washington); the scale seems to be right,” he added.
