At the council’s last meeting Mayor Dean Morehouse reported that the Farmers’ Home Administration (FHA) has approved an additional $97,200 grant so the town can proceed with construction.
That grant will be in addition to grants of $129,500 and $111,000 that already have been approved.
In response to a question Morehouse assured the council that these are grants. “It is a gift, free except for us U.S. taxpayers,” he said.
“It explains the deficit,” shot back council member Newbill Miller.
