To the Editor:
We believe there is a silent majority of public school supporters who are being set aside in favor of the vocal minority. It appears that the opposition is persuading our Board of Supervisors to make irrational and unwise decisions concerning the proposed middle school.
Those of us with children in the school system who daily see the overcrowded conditions that our students heroically tolerate and still manage to continue to learn are unhappy, upset, and appalled at the decision to set aside the school board’s recommendation to build a middle school.
After a public hearing in 1991 the decision was that we needed an expert to study the statistics and present our options. This information was given to us at the public hearing in December, 1992, and Our Superintendent of Schools showed us the figures that indicate we are not only growing as much but more than expected. And now we are being asked to wait again while more options are presented.
