is named

all-district

The Rappahannock team was eliminated in the first match of the Bull Run District tournament losing to Page 15 to 11 and 15 to 4.

In the second game of the tournament Strasburg defeated Central and then went on to defeat Page to win the tournament.

Lori Paratore was named to the first team all-district following the games.

Coach Paul Paratore said the team had had its best year ever, winning fourth place in the district with a 5 and 3 record, 8 and 8 overall. The JV team also had its best year Coach Paratore said, finishing with an identical 5 and 3 record in the district, good enough to tie for third, and 7 and 5 overall.

He noted that his varsity team had scrambled back from a 13 to 2 deficit in the first tournament game to close to 13 and 9 and then 14 and 11 before going down 15 to 11. He said the team had never really gotten into the second game.

Only two members of the team will be back for next year, freshman Laura McNear and junior Sephanie Dove, but Coach Paratore believes his junior varisty team will be able to compete as varsity players. Most of the starters from the JV team will be juniors next year.
