for a teacher to teach more than five courses a day.
Mrs. Williams said the committee also recommends that the Math 9 class be dropped next year. She said it has been a course for “people who don’t do well but pass Math 8.” Students who have Math 8 this year will be scheduled into Applied Math or higher level courses.
Also next year a team of teachers will work to develop a two-year “tech prep” math course that would also be a laboratory type of class, and Applied Math will be dropped after next year. The new Tech Prep class would be introduced in the 1994-95 school year.
Once these changes are complete, non-academic students will be expected to take the Introduction to Mathematics class followed by two years in the Tech Prep class.
