The papers said that the group of donors caucused and voted to recommend that the top of the ticket be headed by millionaire businessman Earle C. Williams of McLean, followed by Del. Clint Miller of Shenandoah for lieutenant governor.
The group then forwarded its recommendations to state C|OP Chairman Patrick McSweeney, the paper said.
On Monday, in a written statement, McSweeney denounced the news reports as “substantially inaccurate.” Allen supporters claim the meeting was a setup by Williams and stacked with Williams backers.
