A new town water system moved one critical step closer to reality at last week’s meeting of the Washington Town Council.
The most recent problem has been, as always, money, or rather the lack of it. Additional requirements from state and federal agencies, primarily the State Water Control Board and the Health Department, have forced an expensive redesign of the system’s new pump house.
To meet new specifications the new pump house will cost about $166,000. which is nearly $100,000 more than the town can afford.
