I suspect that the gun limit legislation will be only a peripheral issue in the coming campaigns as part of a general dialogue about what needs to be done to combat the rise of crime in the state.

The economic issue, though, may well be the heart of the matter. Will all those groups who felt the pain of belt tightening be mollified now that happier days are here again, or will they think Republicans might have done it better?
