In a statement released by EPA, Dr. Moore said that the environmentalists’ findings are based on “cancer potency estimates from data on Alar and the ingredient product to which it breaks down, dimethylhydrazine, or UDMH. This data was rejected in 1985 by an independent Scientific Advisory Panel, established by Congress.
“The panel,” Dr. Moore’s statement continued, “found the information inappropriate for generating risk estimates.” He added that
